Modest Mouse is trying to make a comeback into the current music scene with the release of their new album.
Modest Mouse have been around for years, transitioning from indie to major studio. However, Modest Mouse still remains new to many people.
“I’ve heard of the band name but I have not actually listened to them before,” sophomore Parker Warner said.
Even though Modest Mouse was known for being an indie band and being unique, transitioning into a major label hasn’t really changed their music style. This makes newer listeners quite confused when hearing for the first time.
“They (the vocals) were strange at the time since the voices were faded,” freshman Cory Connet said.
The album may have had decent vocals but the instruments in the album were great.
“The instruments definitely made the singers voice stand out differently,” Connet said.
The instruments had a huge impact to the overall album quality, but with mediocre vocals, it doesn’t have as much impact as it could. The singles of the album seem to be the only main reason of listening to the album. Of course, the album is nowhere bad but doesn’t live up to the quality of past albums. I suggest trying this new album out if you are familiar with Modest Mouse. 6/10
